Increadably detailed drawing (and rather good too). you don't say how big this is, but I bet your eyes ached a bit!

Thank you, Tony, for your kind comments. You ask about size... The answer is either A3 paper or 45,000 tons! I am just drawing another picture of the Ark entering Mombasa in 1966 which I shall post when finished.

You and I are kindred spirits Chris. I really like this picture of the Ark, conjures up a few memories, not that I served on Ark Royal. Bulwark(2 commissions, one fixed wing and one with choppers) and Fearless were my Grey Funnel cruise ships. I have just completed a commisioned pencil drawing of Fearless.

Thanks, Barry, for your kind comments. Are you FAA? Sounds like it. I was in Bulwark in 58 "learning my trade" so to speak. I spent 3 months as the fourth FDO (untrained and unofficial) before doing my Engineroom time. Love to see the Fearless.

Yep I was an "airy fairy", from 1955 to 1970 all seems a long time ago now. I am trying to improve the presentation of my pictures to show them in their best light. trying a programme called Picasa but have yet to learn how to upload them to this site.

No I was on her in 55and 56 for Suez with a Seahawk sqdn, then 66 to 67 with 845 sqdn in Borneo and the Far East

Lovely charcoal drawing of the Ark Royal Chris, you have shown it moving though the sea beautifully

The fourth ship on the name, seen here at speed during sea trials and before starting deck landing trials. Hence no aircraft on board. I spent 2 1/2 years onboard and this was our first time at sea following a refit
