Yes it's a great portrait Chris, expertly done, and the affection with which you painted it is there

Well done - he looks more rounded and real now. I didn't realize he was your dad; if I had, I'd have been less flippant in my earlier comments. A great memory for you and your family.

Robert, No offence taken. I totally understood your comment and will always value your thoughts.

Thanks for your comment too Ros. Very much appreciated.

Thanks for your 3 comments! On my Kate Middleton pastel portrait Chris, nice to see a couple more people adding their thoughts into the mix on this one, and a mix it certainly has been, when I posted it I had no idea what a can of worms I was opening!

Resubmitted. My first oil portrait. Improved (I think) following some sound advice from Ros P and Robert Jones. I have darkened the background and indicated a few blemishes and wrinkles on his face and nose. Also darkened his forehead under his hat and brightened the flowers in his garland. Unfortunately I couldn't take in all of Roberts advice as Dad is sadly no longer with us, but thanks anyway. This was him at my brothers wedding in Kefalonia singing his head off, typically at the centre of the action. Happy days. I hope you like it.
