Lovely work on the Aquilegia flowers Cheryl, maybe such a strong colour in those loses some of the impact of your bird, my eye was drawn to the flowers rather than to the bird

Hmmmm...maybe I could punch up the colors on the bird to counteract the bright flowers?

think you might struggle with raising enough colour in the bird Cheryl, maybe think about starting again with paler coloured flowers, you already had quite strong colour in the bird, just stronger in your flowers!

I guess I didn't plan properly and ended up with the flowers as focal instead of the bird...which is OK, but that wasn't the plan! I will plan better next time....so much to learn! Thanks for the feedback Ros...

This is a lovely little watercolour, I can understand your attraction to the subject. Aquilegia are very difficult draw and paint I think, all those spikes at the top intertwining! You have done a great job!

Thanks so much Carole! I appreciate the great comments!

Canson 140lb NOT watercolor paper, White Nights watercolours, 8 1/8in x 11 3/4in. The delicate beauty of the bird surrounded by flowers is so lovely I could'nt resist it. I also enjoy butterflies as a subject as well.
