Great trees - well, great painting, but the trees really make it.

Thank you so much for your comment on my train picture; now I see why. I know this spot so well. We often go over the Trough to visit my son at Lancaster Uni. How on earth do you do something like this or that house in Oils? I'm just starting with them and I only get mud. YOur colours are so clean.

I do build the colours up in layers to give 3D effects particularly in the trees. A good tip is to mix warm shades with warm shades and not a warm shade with a cool shade which can result in a grey or muddy mix.
