What a beautiful cat; so well painted. I just have a tiny question. If the right eye (looking at it) is in shadow, wouldn't the pupil be slightly larger? I'm not sure; just asking. I wish I could get such delicate soft fur in pastel. Your horse's eye is stunning.

Completely wonderful . I love the feeling you have created, warm and the lighting is superb

Couldn't pass this without commenting. Superb painting, so skilfully executed. Furlike fur and glassy eyes. The lighting is wonderful. How did you get such fine whiskers? There is a thread on the forum asking just that very question. I think a few people would value your input.

A beautiful and very accomplished painting. I love it.

This is just gorgeous, wonderful pose. The fur is amazing.

Avery stunning painting, love it.

He's so beautiful - his fur and the "lighting"- a real chiaro-scuro.What a masterful painting.

Wow this is stunning! Fantastic detail, the shadows, the eyes, the hair, brilliant.

Absolutely brilliant work!

Absolutely stunning!

Hi! Thanks for you're comments! Diana- I've checked the photo and that pupil was the same size as the other one.... I never thought about it, by rights it should be bigger- anyone have any thoughts? Alan- I use white charcoal pencil because it gives lovely crisp thin lines- white pastel pencil is just not the same! This cat was abandoned by her owner because she was in an accident and had slight brain damage- but she's fine now and much loved.

Glad she has turned out ok, all my cats past and present have been strays or abandoned, I only have one now and I found her in a box on the side of the road, its always nice to hear a positive turn out with animals, she looks to be a very loving cat, and it really is a lovely pastel hence why I am back again to browse :-).

This beautiful cat is so amazing, you are brilliant at pastel work. Glad I just found this as I was admiring your frog.

Hello Catherine . I love the detail of the fur.It must be really time consuming.where did you learn how to do it ? Was this cat from a photo ?

Hi David, yes the fur does take time- I just learnt from practise. The cat was a friends, and yes it was a photo. My fur is basically pastel underneath- rubbed in a bit, then pastel pencils on the top to define hairs and push the pastel in the direction of the fur- hard to explain in words!
