Lovely painting, really like the dramatic sky.

This is also lovely. Yes, I really like the sky too.

Me again. I have just looked at your web site. What wonderful paintings. Also looked at the Forum - I hope they do publish a demo. by you in The Artist mag. as I would love to know how you do it.

Hi Margaret, Thanks for your interest in my website and paintings. Also thankyou to Lorraine. Nice to have positive comments so soon after joining. This seems like a great site to belong to although no-one else doing Encaustic I don't think. I hope the Leisure Painter Mag will be in touch soon so I can share my techniques with you all.

Hello Margaret, I have tried it twice and the result is quite amazing. You can work the same piece of paper for a long time and even change the subject. All you need is a hot iron and wax colours et voila! Most interesting.

Hi Satu, Yes you are right ...on the encaustic art card , ( thicker than paper to withstand the heat of the iron) you can rework it for awhile however as in all art mediums the more you rework it the more the colours become muddy or grey looking. This painting is on canvas and reworking is not so easy as the pigments are absorbed into the canvas. I am wondering if you are going to do more as you found it interesting?

Wow. encaustic I have always admired.

Never tried encaustic but I certainly admire the result. Really effective sky.
