A very good start, George. It's always good to begin with a manageable subject and the composition of this is striking, not to mention the texture effect, which is excellent.

Very good idea to start with the simple shapes - more people should, it would save them a lot of frustration and they'd learn so much more. Like the texture - all sorts of things can be used with acrylic (a little care is required to ensure the paint isn't under-bound, that's all) and of course there are many mediums and additives offered.

I like this a lot - Salt ha worked a treat and the colours zing!

George, I think you've got something here......I like it very much. Colours, shapes and composition, all strong and a great start. Look forward to seeing more of the 'house'!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I like house ends, something about there being windows but no door, you could see out, or in, but not go there. I have several photographs and sketches of house ends so I think I'll make this into a trilogy.

Making a start with acrylics, so choosing nice simple shapes whilst I get used to the medium. This house is in Tenby and I used salt to give it some texture.
