The Woods in Autumn by Brian Gangahar

I like this, especially the touches of green amongst the gold. It's hard, isn't it, to separate the groups of leaves from each other in this sort of thing? They tend to merge into one - a way of dealing with that is to keep the background trees sketchy and to focus on the most prominent tree, whose foliage will spread over the picture anyway. Those rich browns are very suggestive of depth. Strong blue at the top of the picture works well; it offsets the golden brown of the leaves and is just the sort of strong, cool blue you'll see at this time of year. Good idea to avoid fussiness in these branches - they work so much better when simplified like this.

Unusual and well done - very nice light shining through the trees.
