Love, love, love this one, Brenda! I really like the many tones and subtle shifts of analogous shades to depict the face. It's a really super portrait! Please do continue with oils - you have a real aptitude for them.

Thank you Seok, I really enjoyed painting Hugo, got into it from the start, Sophie, as you know, was a different matter. These two were painted on 'canvas paper for oils' next time I shall use a box canvas and see if I fare better with that. Thank you for your feed back - always look forward to your comments. Brenda.

Lovely portrait with lots of strong definition in the face. I also like your use of light and dark tones to show the planes of the face, nose and ears. If this is a new medium to you - then you are doing a great job.

Thank you Thea, I painted in oils for the first time when I was still at school!!! Even though I haven't enjoyed working with them (it's the drying time and I am very impatient) I have bought more brushes and varnish, so I couldn't possibly waste them! I used a palet knife for the fur around Hugo's shoulders and enjoyed that - I shall use them in a 'liberated' fashion and see where that leads me. Brenda.

Lovely portrait Brenda, what a sweetie dog!

Hugo is Sophie's companion. 2nd attempt with oil - I felt better about this one. Still prefer acrylics!
