I saw a photograph of these flying swans and thought what a wonderful sight they made. I didn't want to do a true representation of the swans, so I made them into a sort of design motif. The background developed from the orange sky which seems to be cropping up in my mind recently, and a number of curves ( I like doing curves) and the sea just seem to turn purple! I started with watercolour, then added a little gouache, and I think a little pastel may have joined in. Can't really remember, as when I get really interested in something it just seems to come automatically. Anyway I like the end result.
