Nice one, Brian

Very good Brian and your own style comes through.

Well Brian this is nice tonal work I think you are doing great.. This scene is particularly tricky because we are looking downhill. I believe you have done so well with your perspective but if you look at those bricks on the cottage on the left hand side, the group below the door-sill level, they are not correct. Though it seems only a small group of cobbles/bricks, it is significant to the painting as it is in the foreground. I am sure you could re-wet that area and remove them "lifting off" and re-paint the following day when it is thoroughly dry. I do hope I haven't said more than I should as I feel a little awkward writing. Oh well here goes.

Thanks all particularly Guy. The info is greatly appreciated.

Good style and colour, Brian

Just compared this again, against one of Geoff's paintings of this subject in one of his books. It is a complicated scene, looking down that snowy lane with the hill rising in the distance. The roofline of the nearest building is less steep in his version, which might be where you have gone wrong, Guy is spot on with his comments on the brick work, the lower courses are well below eye level, so should slope upwards more than the higher ones. I was wondering what to paint at the art group tonight, I might have a go at this. If I don't post it, I will have failed!

Super work Brian!

Thanks all. Yes Stephen, you’re right, I’ve washed out the offending bricks and repainted them now and it’s much better now. Framed and ready to go.

Hey Brian...I am so glad that you were not offended.... Only yoo glad to help and once again I think you are doing great..!
