Hanging on the old barbed wire by Bob Hill
Oil sketch, approx A5. I painted this after hearing the British WW1 song of the same name. Although the song was a satirical piece expressing the views of the lowest ranks in the trenches, I was moved by the situation it expressed on behalf of those who were there and who saw their brothers ultimately hanging on the old barbed wire.
