Great scene Barry, lovely colours

Terrific stuff Barry. Being a boats, sea and harbour admirer, I love it. Great painting...

Thank you David and Jim. Being a sea and harbour admirer Jim, I suspect you are being kind and not pointing out that the barge should be longer. I do usually get them right but in the photo this one is foreshortened but I haven't captured that very well.

No indeed Barry, it's fine. I'm no pedant and don't accept too many rules in art. Paint as you will and apologise for nothing...(-:

Super work once again Barry, has an old time feel to it.

Thanks Stephen l've been studying the work of Joseph Zbukvic recently and i think it shows in some of the washes.

Lovely painting, Barry.

Thank you Cesare.

Wow Barry......magnificent!

Wonderful painting Barry.

Thank you Fiona and Margaret.

I was reading how you started this - fantastic sky by the way - yet what you added, the ships etc, have really completed the painting. Perfectly balanced, hard to achieve I would think, after that sky.

Very beautiful. Great washes, like the color and the effect.

Thank you Marjorie and Bonny, you make a good point Marjorie I studied the sky for a long while and looked through a lot of photos before choosing my subject. Having made my choice it was very important to stick with the same palette in order to maintain harmony and unity within the composition. I also positioned the boats so that they pointed towards the barge.

I then scanned through some of my photos and found a picture of a passing Thames Barge taken at Haybridge Basin in 2013. This morning as soon as the light was ok I set about my task and now feel that yesterday wasn't total waste.
