Parts of this are loose, others not. You've successfully got the look of a wet rainy day, Stephen(?), and I like the vibrant splash of yellow which lights up the painting. I occasionally paint with watercolour and would love to paint loosely. I think I find it helps if I paint something simple and small and flood the paper with strong colour onto damp, heavyish paper then SOMETIMES it works. You must watch Alvarez Castagnet on you tube, he takes you through some stages and you can see how little detail he starts with. Also, are you painting with a reasonably heavy paper?

That name should be Álvaro Castagnet, sorry.

Thanks for the comments Marjorie. The paper is not less than 140 gsm - maybe heavier. Also used a big brush in relation to the paper size (16 x 12) and plenty of water. I did wet the whole paper on this one so maybe that helped a bit.
