Anne Fletcher

Biography

I was born in 1940 in the Northeast and lived there for many years. I left school with "O" levels including Art, which I'd really enjoyed. Work, study and family life, meant that it wasn't until many years later that I started painting again. I went to various classes and joined art clubs when moving to different parts of the country. I currently live in the East Midlands. I enjoy line and wash, pen drawing, watercolour and gouache. I usually use my own photos as reference but using "artistic licence"! Old buildings, landscapes, seascapes, trees and flowers are my favourite subjects. I have exhibited and sold paintings occasionally and I usually do Christmas cards. Last year, through Family Research I was amazed to discover my grandfather, at age 17yrs. had won a gold medal for his oil paintings in an international exhibition in London and went on to become a noted theatrical artist in the 1800s!
