Portrait of a girl

Portrait of a girl

Hi Anthony, thanks for your recent comments on my works, i popped over to have a look at your gallery and i'm very glad i did, your knowledge of the human form is evident in your portraits and life drawings and also your sculptures. I tried sculpture once and it was the most frustrating thing ever....my mental picture was clear but i couldn't translate it into 3D for the life of me, so i am always appreciative (and envious) of anyone who can. i really like how you have captured this young girl in so few pencil strokes...awesome

Thanks for your comments Steve. That's the beauty of art and the usefullness of such sites as P-OL. everyone has more or less the same sticks, same pencils, same boxes of paint or watercolour, oil or water. But such diversity in style and vivacity. Each unique. I learn from every gallery/portfolio I go through. For me the important thing is not to try and copy others' style, but one does get ideas and inspiration.

This is a lovely work and tells a story in the expression. You're a very observant painter as is shown in all your life studies.

Thanks Vivien. Unlike in sculpture, a couple of strokes can interpret an expression.
