Highly colourful as usual, cheerful painting Anni.

These birds look great Anni, I think they should sell well. I find it so difficult not to get involved in the details on my birds. So I admire your work. To capture the essence in a few tones is a real achievement. I havent managed it yet but would like to move towards a more cut back approach. I bet these are stunners in real life too. I have done a number of studies of red legged partridges, which we get in our garden here. they look very similar in shape but the colours are obviously different, but like your birds here, i find them comical to watch.

These are so you Anni. Immediately attracts the eye. I agree they should sell.

Lovely simplicity in your paintings.

Wonderful colours, all the best for your exhibition next month.

Hi Carole, thanks for looking in and commenting. Yes, you know me I like my colours :) Kind regards ~ Anni Hello Angela, I seem to use the minimalist approach to birds when I paint them. Using the line/form of the bird with clear colour, I suppose you could call it a stylised painting. I was also trying to view the scene from the bird's angle/persecptive i.e. low down on the ground. I wanted the birds to be the main focal point and the background was secondary. Your red-legged partridges sound very interesting, could you minimalised them I wonder? Thanks so commenting, I love talking art and generally chatting as you might have noticed :) ~ Kind regards ~ Anni Hi Jeanette, Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, let's hope they do sell, as I have already paid a registration fee and all sales have a 40% commission plus I've just spent sixty dollars odd on courier tickets to get them up there and back. Well, us artist know we are not in it for the money are we? Kind regards ~ Anni Hello Sylvia, KIS...yup keep it simple :) I find I keep birds simple but when I paint cats sometimes I revel in the detail, maybe it is because I feel far more familiar with the subject and I normally like to put them in decorative settings. Thanks for looking and commenting. Kind regards ~ Anni :) Hi Karleen, Thank you for your supportive words. It would be great to have some sales before Christmas. If they don't sell up there I will either pop them into another forthcoming exhibition or try an auction site, similar to EBay. Kind regards ~ Anni :)

Acrylic on canvas: 10 x 10 inch Now there are two! Two Pukeko (also known as Swamp Hens) nosing around in a Kiwi bach/crib garden. A Southern Rata tree flowers in the background. These birds have the most beautiful deep midnight blue feathers and contrast beautifully with their bright red beaks and legs. They are quite comical to watch. This is going to be one of the canvases I am submitting to a Small Packages exhibition in Auckland, New Zealand next month. All artworks have to be the same size i.e. 10 x 10 inch...I have found it quite a challenge painting on such a small canvas ~ Anni :)
