A beautiful abstract, Anni, a delight to view.

Another lovely painting Anni, all of your paintings are so striking and colourful.

Another cracker from you Anni. love the boldness of the compostion and the lovely strong use of colours. Fab

Hi Ruth, Thanks for your comment and taking the time to view this one. I wanted to capture autumn colours against a pure blue sky...just like I saw in Arrowtown. Kind regards ~ Anni :)

Hello Christine, Thanks for your supportive comment :) I tried a different painting technique for the trunks of these trees. I made a great mess on the kitchen table...it was fun playing around and experimenting though ~ Kind regards Anni Morris www.annimorris.com

Hi Angela, I love those orange/deep yellows and reds...and enjoyed playing with them. My youngest daughter said...aren't you too old to play with paints? I replied ...no way. Kind regards ~ Anni :)

Hi Anni~ no this one did not fool me either...agree another captivating non-representational artwork...as ever beautifully executed & so colourful.

A lovely applique of colour and shapes Anni.

Good evening Phil, From a very cold winter's night in Dunedin. Brrrrrr!!!!! Glad you like this one, yes I manage to use quite a number of colours here. Thanks for looking. Kind regards ~ Anni Morris

Hello Carole, An applique :) That reminds me, I did treat myself to a queen size handmade pacthwork quilt a few weeks ago (it was my birthday) for my old black cast iron and brass bedstead. I couldn't resist it. I bought it on a NZ auction site, it was unused and made by an elderly lady who makes them for a hobby. The design is Double Wedding Ring in greens and reds on a cream background (looks very Christmassy). I told the lady that she created heirlooms, very talented. Thanks for looking Carole, hope all is well with you and you are enjoying an interesting art project at the mo? Kind regards ~ Anni Morris

What a great birthday present this was. Bet it goes a treat with your Victorian type bed. Thanks for asking about my projects Anni, I keep trying different media , like coloured pencils and pastels, but still go back to my old favourite watercolour. The warmer weather we are having inspires me to paint those lovely flowers in the garden! Love Carole.

Sorry Anni oops didn't think it had worked first time!!

Hi Anni, I love the simpicity of your trees and Houses and the colours are so brilliant. Is it on canvas or paper and what size? Can't see your other paintings, where are they? Do you happen to have Finnish origines with a name Anni? Regards Satu

Hi Satu, I love painting all the details sometimes, having backgrounds with chintzy wallpaper etc... but other times I just want to strip things back to simple shapes and colours...like here. There is no way I could paint exactly what I saw in Arrowtown several weeks ago, so I didn't even try. Much better to use colour to capture my memory of it and the tallness of the trees against the tiny wooden cottages. Scale has gone out of the window with this one. I remember the trees towering up above me, dwarfing the buildings below. I don't find this artsite very user friendly, difficult trying to find others work. I suppose you could go back to the gallery page and pop my name in Anni Morris (I have quite a few paintings on here), if you want to see more of my work. I also have a simple website www.annimorris.com too. I am English and lived in England for 28 years of my life, the remainder I have spent living in New Zealand. Two of my older children are English and my youngest a New Zealander. I now live on the coast in the far south of the South Island in New Zealand in an old Victorian ciy founded by the Scottish in the 1800's called Dunedin. Thanks for viewing my work and taking the time to comment, much appreciated ~ Anni :)

Acrylic on canvas Several weeks ago I went to Queenstown and Arrowtown (New Zealand) with my partner. It was late autumn and the display of colour was amazing. We were in Arrowtown in the mid afternoon and the sunshine shone through the leaves...russets, butter yellows, reds...it was a beautiful nature's palette. This is my abstracted memory of our visit.
