Anne Corless

Biography

Keen to help others develop their artistic skills, Anne enjoys sharing her love of exploring art materials and techniques. Over the last few years she has been Artist in Residence (and was invited to hold a solo exhibition) at BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio Merseyside, Derwent’s “magical” Pencil Museum in the Lake District, Nature in Art in Gloucestershire; "the world’s first museum and art gallery dedicated to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature" and at Patchings International Art Festival. She has given a BBC Arts Master Class on portrait painting to an invited audience live on air at BBC Radio Lancashire and has taught art workshops; for Derwent and Leisure Painter/ The Artist magazines. As a Guest Lecturer on Fred Olsen Cruise Lines Anne enjoys teaching watercolour painting and art skills to guests on travels around the world. A keen writer, Anne enjoys writing about the world of art as a guest blogger and for magazines such as 'Art + Framing Today' magazine, 'Leisure Painter' magazine and Rosemary & Co Artists Brushes newsletter, to name a few. With a keen interest in the ‘business side of art’ Anne has given talks for the Fine Art Trade Guild; at the Spring Fair International at the NEC in Birmingham, at the annual 'Art and Framing UK Convention' on a number of occassions and at 'Making Pictures' events around the UK. As she always says; “We are all on this artistic journey together!” Anne is a recent past chair of the Fine Art Committee of the Fine Art Trade Guild, a role she was honoured to hold for five years. Anne sits on the selection committee of the 'Guild Artists Exhibition' (2014/15/16/17) and is a judge for the 'Jorge Aguilar-Agon Student Artist Award' (2015/16/17)...both international events. Anne is also a previous North West Branch Master of the Guild. As a Founder Member and Inaugural Chair of the Association of Animal Artists, for four years, she is honoured to have been awarded an Honorary Life Membership. She is the founder (and judge) of the AAA Inaugural Chairman's Award which is also sponsored by the Artist and Leisure Painter magazines and Rosemary and Co Artists Brushes. Some years ago Anne was thrilled to be invited to become a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation; "the world's leading artist group supporting the envireonment", based in Canada. She is a Professional Associate Member of the Society for All Artists (UK). Anne is also a professional member of the Anatomical Society (UK), the Association of Illustrators (UK), the Medical Artists Association (UK), the Association of Medical Illustrators (USA) and the Writers Guild of Great Britain.
