There you go again - managing to do 'green' really well! I am envious. Love the depth of colour as the base of the trees on the right - acts as a nice balance. Very nice painting.

Thanks for that Thea. I just wish I could DRAW as well as you! Your watercolours are beautiful, but I do notice that GREEN doesn't feature too often!

This is good, but if you want to draw like Thea, just hold the pencil, pastel, brush by the tip (ie the end of the handle or chalk/pencil) and sweep away - avoid the 'careful' stroke, the geometric drawing approach; let yourself go, be free and don't give a damn'.... practice on the odd sheet of paper, gas bills, circulars, and apply the same approach to your more expensive paper... keep it light: the light and gentle approach, as opposed to a) the tentative one or b) the heavy, determined one, will usually help to free up your technique, together with thinking in terms of cubes, cones, circles etc - basic shapes. Doodle, whenever you can ... get yourself a reputation as an inveterate scribbler ... Drawing, like good handwriting, comes with practice. The appreciation of colour comes, to some extent, from an understanding of drawing and tone - and a limited palette - but that's another story!

Thanks Robert. I usually do start off "loose" but lose the place somewhere along the line. My drawing leaves a lot to be desired, but will keep trying with your advice in mind.

Lovely - I really have a liking for trees at the water's edge because it is a natural subject and it brings the nerves to a quiet place and the reflections are always a joy to look at. This is wonderful.
