I like the strong blue and orange. What kind of pastel did you use?

Hi Jean - thanks for your coment. I used Inscribe pastels but I must admit, haven't been very adventurous in trying out different brands (unlike acrylics where I think I've tried so many and found I liked Liquitex best). I like conte sticks but didn't use them for this picture. What do you use?

I like the loose style you have used here. I use pastel over watercolour quite a bit and find that the Unison soft pastels and Kremer good for natural subjects like landscapes. The Rembrant ones have quite vibrant colours good for touches of colour and for abstract where you want a wallop of colour. I have never visited Australia but the sense of smell is always evocative of memory. My parents have a holiday home in the West of Ireland and when I think of it I can smell the heather and gorse, and the sent of burning peat fires. The peat is made of ancient woods and when it burns it gives off a distinctive smell which I always identify with holidays. I picked you out of the gallery when i saw the picture of the apples and i am glad i did.

Thank you, Angela, for your nice comments. You made me smell peat, too, when I read your message - and I felt surrounded by soft colours. You have a good way with words as well as with pictures. Thank you.
