Evie pastel portrait

Beautiful blue eyes. Even better in colour Angela.

Why thank you Marjorie, I decided to dabble today and started off mixing skin tones it was fine at first then later added Conte pastel which feels lighter and smoother too.

A moment captured!

Thank you Heather, Little Evie was nibbling a chocolate biscuit at their family gathering and I took a photo of her when she wasn't looking! Been drawing and painting today but finally took out my pastels as for children's portraits they feel just right somehow! She is three years old and such an energetic child but on this occasion sat still and appeared to be weighing up the situation, so sweet at the time couldn't resist painting this one!

Rather intriguing!!

Why thankyou David, I do enjoy pastel work and this portrait seemed to be fine for this line drawing I did the other day.

I started a sketch portrait drawing of Evie a few days ago so today developed it into a pastel portrait. Years ago I bought some Conte pastels and they are still performing well after about twenty years! I worked on most of the day as started dabbling with acrylic but felt it needed pastel for the pigments so rubbed with fingertips and it helped to blend far better. This is our youngest grandaughter Evie Madeline!
