Andrea these paintings/pictures (I never know how to refer to pastel) are beautiful, especially the little girl, so delicate. It always amazes me how people who work with pastel manage to get such clean, crisp finishes to their work. Your dogs are lovely too. Pastels are such a wonderful medium they have such a rich and vibrant quality as illustrated here.

Gorgeous work, lovely dog; and Brenda, the term for pastel pictures is, maybe slightly oddly , paintings - counter-intuitive in many ways perhaps, but probably the further one gets away from the idea of drawing, ie making marks with pencils, the better. See Arnold Lowrey's methods - don't know if Andrea uses the same.

Thank you for your lovely comments, I use soft pastels and pastel pencils to get the detail, I love doing detail especially in the eyes as I feel this brings portraits alive x
