Diolch yn fawr , Russell. Always grateful for your comments. Especially in Welsh.

A tragic life, if I recall. You have depicted the loneliness and the despair in her eyes. Well done, Andre.

I don't know her story, but she looks like she has a headful of sad thoughts. Great expression and painting, Andre.

Lovely portrait Andre,

Good portrait, Andre.

A great depiction of her Andre.

Thank you so much Seok, Lewis, David, Cesare and Margaret for those kind comments.

A captivating portrait, Andre, and I like the limited palette.

Thank you Jenny, much appreciated.

Thank you Dennis, you're so kind.

A look of deep sadness Andre, she didn’t have the best of starts in life. I lived about four miles from where she was sent as a little girl after her fathers death at Sempringham priory. Long gone now but it is the site of St Andrews church which stands amongst the odd foundation stone of the old priory, sat a long way from the road in the middle of corn fields. There is a modest monument to Gwenllian with a little of her history, including her becoming a nun of the priory and died at the age of 55.....I think.

Nice work in capturing a mood, an expression of thought Andre.

Thank you Michael, and thank you Fiona for that interesting comment, much appreciated.a big thank you too to Gudrun and Jim.

Great painting !!

A sad story of being in the 'care' of a convent - this really captures her despair well.

Stands out in the gallery again Andre, the limited colours reflect her expression.A " canny painting" -sorry, don't know any Welsh, so Geordie will have to do!

Love the colours in this the limited pallette works really well 😃

Thank you Linda, Michael ,Marjorie and Linda for those comments and Geordie is more than adequate Marjorie.

Lovely work Andre forgive my ignorance mate but I don't know anything about her. It's a nice work Andre

Really nice pose and love the colours.

Wonderful portrait full of mystery Andre.

Thank you Dennis, Ibolya and Carole for those nice comments. If you're interested Dennis ,..she was the daughter of Llewelyn, the last prince of Wales, and of Eleanor, who died giving birth. Llewelyn was killed a year later and Edward the first had Gwenllian placed in a nunnery , for the rest of her life ,so ending the Welsh line of monarchs.

She looks so lonely and sad. Beautifully painted Andre!

Thank you Satu, your comment really appreciated.

18x14 oil. How I imagined Llewelyn's daughter would have looked.
