When I came back from Nice, I couldn't stop thinking about that light — palms glistening in the sun, the pink dome of the Negresco like a candy-coloured castle, the sky so blue it almost hurts your eyes. I picked up my brush while I could still feel the sand between my toes. The people on the pavement are just strokes of colour — a joyful crowd full of life and carefree spirit. Every brushstroke was meant to be a gesture of joy.
