Looking at this painting, I can almost smell the Provençal lavender hanging in the air. Purple fields stretch like a sea before me, with their mesmerizing contrast of intense violets against warm yellows. The small house with its red roof suggests a retreat where time slows down. Under the bright, promising sky, this slice of Provence captures the peace and simplicity that often eludes us in our hurried lives.
