Gold and Silver Birch - not quite finished
Comments

Brilliant work - this works exceptionally well. I've just finished a painting of trees, and I found the big problem was differentiating the colours of trunks - I suppose it's obvious, but if they're all brown or black or grey they have a nasty tendency to look like fence posts. It's also all too easy to overdo the foliage - but you haven't. I like the format, too.

Thank you for your kind comments, Robert. 'Tis finished now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://amanda-bates-artist.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/gold-and-silver-birch-snelsmore-common.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Blog post explains what the orange stuff is and includes an animated gif of my in-progress shots!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've seen the finished version on your blog; going to post it? Hope you do.

Oh, alright then, Robert.... Sylvia, thank you.

A treescape. A few details to add - more branches towards the top, a bit more highlighting on the trunks - but this view of Snelsmore Common near Newbury is pretty close. Oil on linen canvas, 40 x 80 cm
