Again, I like the sea; well, I like all of it, but the sea can be painted so badly (as you know from the YouTube demos to which I so cruelly directed you) that it's instructive to see how it can be painted well.

Gudrun - I just can't help it! Robert - I can't help wondering if I'd be able to paint crashing waves from life. Want to try! Dash it, I live too far inland...

Love it Amanda!

Thank you, Fiona. Slightly worried that this one was too pretty for its own good...

Great sky, those vibrant waves again with cliffs, lighthouse and people, simply great!

I found some old photographs of Godrevy Lighthouse (once again from Gwithian Beach). It seemed like a good contract with the New Year's day images - not least because the light (that fabulous North Cornish light) was so different. Here, the lighthouse island is fully illuminated, which made me realise how mysterious the previous, gloomier paintings made the place seem. I hope this doesn't kill the glamour... oil on canvas, 20 x 16" http://amanda-bates-artist.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/godrevy-summer-2009.html
