Right on Amanda and so quick too, that's me all over - quick, too quick generally, but I rush at it, you have thought it out.
Clearer, smashing colour, but I did try and include warious things in, like Dickens, Leap years, Napolean, Robert Browning, Edward Lear, not that they all came out clear.
I might have another go.

Oh, do, Derek. I was thinking purely about the Franco-Russian war. The figure on the prancing horse could well be Napoleon (he was meant to be). The rest, I think, fit the year but not the Overture, which is what I took as my subject.

Fiery and superb colour Amanda

To me it says everything about war Amanda no matter what era. You have the squaddie at the bottom, the group of faceless ones on the left off in offices somewhere (even though they look like soldiers) and the Generals at the top directing chaos, a bit deep I know but that's the general feeling it gives me and I come from an Army family and proud of it. But enough of that, I really like the riot of colour in the sky with the bold marks and the powerfull imagery of the three cannon opposite the three soldiers, the highlighting on the front soldier gives some real power and menace to his face, I think is really great well done Amanda, sorry for rambling on.

Russia, 1812. Acrylic inks and Molotows, penultimate page of my Song Book. Based on Tchaikovsky's famous 1812 Overture and Derek's idea... A wordless song, a classical piece - but so eloquent in its violent drama. Not that I would condone gorification of war. I'm hoping that the soldiers in the foreground are sufficiently scary...
