Dunno. Helpful, eh? Helpful? It's produced a different image, whether it's a better one is a question to which I don't have a ready answer; but then you can do some more! If in doubt, try a series of drawings/paintings in different media and/or methods - do you ever use pen and ink? This would be interesting in that medium - maybe with a colour wash (I know these things can be a little bit precious, but they don't have to be: there are so many pens still available, ie good old-fashioned steel pens in a variety of points - and too few of us are buying them).

Thing is, once you have a dip pen, it lasts. So the market stagnates... Not so the market for capillary technical pens. I now find technical pens annoying, but used to use them (0.01mm!!) for drawing - and shading - freehand. ~~ I do have drawing pens (dip, cartridge and clogged capillary). And ink. Haven't used them much for a while. ~~ The Smithy *would* be a good subject for pen and ink. I may try that...

If I venture into ink and wash, mind, I probably didn't ought to use Quink.

I like them all, especially the bottom one. Is that the one which you have wetted?

Yes, Gudrun - the top one is partially wetted (all bar the stones), the bottom one I completed the process.

I still can't decide whether using water on the whole drawing was a good idea. What do you think?
