On A Sunny Afternoon In Porthleven
Acrylic on paper laminated onto board - 55.5 x 40cm This is one of my favourite views of Porthleven. I love the sweeping scene with the Bickford-Smith Institute in the foreground and the cliffs meandering into the distance to Loe Bar. I have walked along the twisting cliff-top path that is visible in the background many times! I wanted to capture the warm afternoon sunlight as it illuminated the granite of the walls giving it a warm glow. I also wanted to depict the contrast between the choppy sea on a bright and breezy day with the relative calmness of the waters within the harbour.
