I like this. I think you have the light and shade just right .I think if you delete the building with three arches on the left it will have more impact on the picture as a whole. Well done.

Thanks for that Fred. It's an option I considered, but it seems to upset the balance of the picture. However, my wife made the same suggestion before I'd completed the painting!!!!!!

I think it is alright as it is. What would you put in place of the three arches, a blank wall? As Alan said it balances the painting. The wonderful contrast between the light and shade direct you to the scene on the right anyway.

A lovely piece. Love the contrast of the warm and cool colors and the light and shadows.
