I think many of us do that - I certainly have; although the ones I did for that reason didn't please me or anybody else! Like this one - a rugged scene, much to my taste.

Keep on with this sort of thing Alan, it's super.

Whatever you produce Alan is always a joy to look at, I must admit I do love your 'slap it on and make a mess ones'! I think as long as you are painting, you're a happy fellow.X

A bit of a departure for you, Alan, and I like it a lot. I actually think I prefer you doing studies like this one to your more normal choice of subject.

you know my friends , I think most of my painting life ,I have tried to paint more to please others than myself , for it to be a nice painting to look at do they call it being conventional Robert my friend .I don't know.erm, or following the crowd ,. why I ask myself ..I am so much happier making a mess and slapping it on .take care every one
