This is a little different for you Alan. But I like it, I certainly don't think it is overworked. The church spire is particularly well painted. I wonder if Claude had to listen to similar comments from Mrs Monet?

I imagine Mrs Alan does have quite a few paintings about the house, given the rate of production. I like this one, which is indeed a change of tack for you - although I've long known you could do anything with a watercolour brush... Detail - ah; if you're worried about excess detail you should see one of my latest oils: I lost control of it, and now the paint's heavy enough to drag the canvas off the board....

I think it is good to have laugh about art and life as well eh?well we are all alike really ,,so why try and act different ,I find at these art groups they can be as miserable as sin,,they grind there teeth as they paint, well some of them .lets have laugh and splash it about .life gives us all to many problems as it is ,lets not carry them to a group.

Quite right: if you can't enjoy your painting, why do it at all? And the thing is, the more you enjoy it, the better you get. I used to get very tense about painting, for fear of "getting it wrong": and now and then I still do. But the tenser you get, the tighter you get, the more cautious your brush-strokes, the less free and successful your paintings. Take it easy! By the way Alan - have you ever thought of getting Mrs Alan to take up painting? She might be a bit less annoyed by yours being all over the place if she did a few of her own... (I presume you've already thought of that, after all these years of married life...)

eh ..yes ,,what about that room she has full to the top with craft stuff .and I darn,t go open the door well it looks like I may be doing a bit again Robert ,so it goes ""hi Alan you are looking better what about doing a class for us """",,owd on,,a bit,,,thas no chance,, sorry//// what about eleven in the morning till one o'clock would that suit???? with a group of old ladies who are interested in watercolours .""""..eeeee now we are talking .no getting up at an ungodly hour and with a lovely bunch of wrinkles like me .that will be fun jubbley jubbley let me get at it, hee hee, weres my wheely frame //////

Yes a bit away from your norm - and portrait format at that.

Well, I like it too, particularly the trees in the middle with those wonderful colours; just draws you in.

I like the viewpoint in this. Completely different from your usual paintings ., and that conversation sounds familiar too!!

a photo by my friend Doug ,,i tried not to get to bogged down with detail but as you know it takes over and you keep adding and adding even the little voice in your head wont stop you at times .. 'I wont go over the faults in this one .there are quite a few .I,ll let you sort them out ,I am cleaning up the kitchen table and putting my brushes away for today ,before her upstairs starts at me again """.those blxxxxx paintings cant you move them ::they are taking up the whole house,.I,m fed up of it,,
