I know the scene Alan, and you've captured it well

Agreed lovely work Alan, great colours and figurework in the people in casual poses as they would be, lovely capturing of the light and shade as well

Works well Alan, you have managed to simplify a complex scene very well.

thanks stephen.Pat,Ros we all have a different way and style of painting// but ,most painters today seem to be painting foggy paintings ,they use the blot and dab approach.their paintings look as though they are under misty glass .and so photo graphic they must have spent days on them., the pol magazine has loads of these con artists I am fed up of seeing them ,and want to see some old fashioned painters back in the magazine all this blinking straight from the tube dabbing on trees with special brushes , .lets get real ..and going along aneedge of paper or masking tape for the horizon line .I saw that in my kids baby class ..do you think If I say my prays it will ever happen .I wish some farmer would shoot that bleeding coloured rabbit that keeps poping up in the magazine and why cant I see some one pick up a brush and just paint a picture with no gimmicks like Ted r james .yes that was a moan. but quite frankly my dear dont give a dam

Super piece, Alan, lots to see but not overwhelming.

I do like this. Lots of space in the foreground that welcomes us into the picture. I also agree with you on some of the works popping up in the magazines. it seems to be all about flogging us gimmick brushes and stuff. I don't buy the 'special tree brush'. I just keep my old ones when they go tatty.

go on be honest your all thinking the same I am surprised more shite has not hit the fan mind you there.s enough of that to fill a bucket already

Nice one, Alan!

Great painting Alan - and great comments on todays trendy attitude to painting. I agree entirely!

I do like this. I've just completed a watercolour course and the stuff my tutor said to put in for assessment was the looser and more abstract. I liked all the proper ones. I'm giving up on courses ( and on watercolour) and I'm going to paint the way I want to. I'm never going to agree with the critics. Moan over this is very well done.

Dawn// we paint good ones and bad ones , dont be put off by what others say,, your .tomorows painting may be wonderful,, so please go your own way and enjoy yourself ..the trendy ways of todays art colleges /though may not be to my liking .are as good as the teacher .(a good teacher produces good artist) ,I hate it when teachers give a quick opinion on a boy or girl.l ,.I have seen this happen to often in college and it is upseting ..once an academic always an academic some wont change and are doing the same lessons they did twenty years ago. sorry I rambole on .take care Alan
