Thank you. No idea what it is, to be honest, Sylvia; it just grows there and we've seen it growing wild in the West Country. I've looked at the RHS "Plant Finder" and not found anything quite the same, so Monbretia it could be.

Thank you both. I've done a version of this in acrylics now, which has highlighted my need to get to grips with some brush skills but it's made "paint" much more accessible.
