I like the shadow falling in his face and the gold/brown really adds something special. Also I think the empty space on the left brings him forward. Works very well.

Like it a lot...Great tone and composition. I thought he had a hat on, but that doesn't matter! It's a risk putting the subject so far to the side but it works very well...Great painting...Regards Steve

Great dramatic feel to this portrait with the strong shadows and offset of the figure to the right. Good composition.
