This conveys the age, the richness of colour, even hints at the environment in which it's set. Highly accomplished work.

I try to go to Venice every two years, usually to coincide with the Biennale. I'm hoping to try some plein air painting the next time I go, hopefully in 2011.

18 1/2" x 18 1/2" oil on board. First of a series painted for an exhibition in September at Broadway Modern, all pictures themed around a single colour. This one was orange and was connected to an earlier painting "Chasing Shadows" that was centred on a single colour, this series taking the theme further. www.paintingsbymarkharrison.com
