I've a feeling I've done all I usefully can with this acrylic - don't want to labour it.  It's a dead tree, that dominates part of the garden and provides perches for birds of all kinds, but especially crows, jackdaws, and magpies: presumably that's so they can see the buzzards or peregrines coming.  Anyway, any views you might have, always welcome.
There is a dead tree quite near to me and every time I see it I want to paint it, but I’m driving so I forget it until next time I pass it. Lovely shape, lovely painting.  But it doesn’t look ‘dead” to me.  It looks like a tree in winter.. Not having seen your tree I can’t really comment.  I like it very much as a painting....my dead tree that I pass is smooth and gaunt....decidedly DEAD . You have now given me the impetus to stop and sketch it .
Dead trees or indeed bare winter trees also inspire me, their structural elements are nicely visible for me to draw. Nicely finished off Robert, and the colour contrasts well with the greens.
The light and shade’s beautiful Robert, the painting has lovely depth. Yeah, leave it 👍
A very pleasing result Robert. I think trees appeal to most of us for what they are and especially as a painting subject.
Looks just grand to me.  The light and various contrasts look entirely natural, the whole painting 'works' well.  I especially like the cropping on the tree and the clump of grass in the foreground.
Thanks to all.  Sylvia has put her finger on the point that worried me a bit - it doesn't look anything like as dead as the tree itself really is; a titling problem, perhaps!  I won't make more than minor adjustments to this one, but I think I'll paint it again in another format (and probably a different medium) to see if I can capture its deceased status more convincingly.
Amen.
But where are all the birds?  A bit of life to offset the dead tree?
Boids?  You want boids?  We'll give you boids next time - not sure I want to add them to this one.   But - you never know.
