it seems almost ridiculous to show something like this, I'm a little ashamed, but I'm more interested in learning from mistakes. It's a postcard-sized Christmas card for a certain person. I didn't think anything of it (that's exactly what you can see) and just started painting, and now I can see miserably that no proportions are right, the whole composition seems totally lost. Lots of little things - scattered around the picture - horrible. If only I could say that I smoked a good joint or drank an expensive whisky - but unfortunately no, I was completely sober....is this now a big waste or are there still rescue operations? (more trees on the left side/ seagulls flying by, how kitschy/ a third fox/ no hedgehog please...) What else would you do?
Well I think it is charming just as it is. As a card maker myself I would say that the joy of making cards is that they don't have to be accurate, often those little mistakes add character. My husband thinks that card making isn't 'proper art', but I find that it has its own challenges and I learn a lot from making them.  One suggestion - if you really don't like the card, you could cut out elements, eg the foxes, stick a piece of card behind them to give a raised effect and add them to a different background.
Sorry, double post!

Hi Linda, thank you very much for your answer. Yes, the idea of cutting out elements is good:) I just continued with the mess and will finish it now. Unfortunately the light is so bad for taking photos, it actually looks nicer in live:)
It’s a nicely painted card with some interesting components to it, you should be very pleased with it!
thank you very much Alain:)
Be proud of your lovely work, Tanja. I'm sure the recipient will be delighted. Well done.
I think it has worked out really well.
Tanja = in your place, I would say this is just what I intended to paint: a naive scene perhaps,  but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that in a Christmas card: I've seen many cards, and received a few, that were much, much less accomplished than yours.
oh, thank you very much for your lovely feedback. Yes, I have now come to terms with the little card. Thank you for encouraging me :)
A card to make smiles….thank you Tanja.
