Certainly couldn't be done from imagination. Excellent.
It would be crazy doing a plein air out in that weather. 💨
But Marjorie is made of stern stuff - Turner had nothing on her....
Ha ha! Hat on, gloves on, scarf on, camera out.
I lashed myself to an ice cream once while out painting but it did not work for me. It just made a mess all over the canvas and paints. I was rescued by a friendly dog who licked it all up for me.
Touched by Graham's heartfelt - and doubtless wholly fictitious - account.  There are artists who go out in all weathers - Pete the Street, for example; a Cornish painter whose name (typically!) can't recall ... worth looking it up, though: give me a minute... Andrew Barrowman!  For Heaven's sake, Andrew Barrowman - am I becoming senile?  Don't answer that....  But I really can't do it anymore: I might, if you'd give me a nice spin in your car, but it's surprising how few people really want to do that... So venturing out,  taking a photo, is the best I can do: oh, feeble flesh!  Infirmity of purpose!  But - one does like to be warm, and dry.......
Pete the Street is amazing - en plein air as well as wonderful interiors. Photos are fine if you let your imagination and feelings play a part.
I agree, Peter Brown AKA Pete the Street is an outstanding oil painter - lives in Bath I believe, and goes out in all weathers! Amazing commitment… Was president of the ROI if my memory serves me correctly…or was it NEAC,  I’d have to check that out! Adibanji is the current president of ROI, Haidee - Jo vice president.
