A semi imaginary scene , I’ve taken the large boat from and old photo and added the rest of the scene . As the boat is of Scottish design I want it to have a Highland harbour look , Fiffies we’re built to take the heavy seas in and around the Scottish fishing grounds good solid timbered fishing boats that were constructed to be worked hard and withstand the punishing conditions.
Moved on little more taking time as the heat today was causing the paint to dry far to quickly, rather that than dull rainy weather.
I’ve not had much opportunity to do a  lot more just add some base colours and start to work the reflections around the boats . The paper is cockled a bit where I have just worked it because I wet it and added a very wet mix of paper, two minutes after taking the photo it was dry and completely flat .
Had a good hour working on this over the last three hours, short spells seem to suit me and of course there is the heat to consider. Starting adding a little bit of base detail won’t do the fine detailing till near the end , I’m pleased with how it’s taking shape, must remember to not rush and start fiddling around.
Dixie I also find shorter painting sessions suit me.  Two hours is normally enough but often less which means paintings now take much longer but I prop up my painting for observation in between so at least there is that! Your painting above is coming on nicely.
I tend to do about forty minutes at the very most anymore and it’s physically uncomfortable, I also have tiger paintings I’m working on set up so I can see them. Having a few on the go enables me to change as I feel like doing something different, been able to see then enables me to pick up on something I want to add or change etc , definitely has sone benefits but take much longer.
I’ve had very little time to work on this painting today , half an hour to add base colours to some of the buildings in the background and a very little basic detail again in the distance buildings . The photos won’t upload for some reason will try again later.

Paul, you are SO much more methodical and planned than I ever am = do you think that's more necessary with watercolour than it is with opaque media?   I realize - all the more lately, after a positive pain-Fest which I hadn't been expecting -  the need to pace oneself; I suppose that does tend to reduce and limit flow and inspiration; but we just have to turn that to an advantage, as it gives us more time to think about what we're up to.   I can only recommend the TENS machine, in that connection - I really think I'd have just given up and swallowed too many painkillers if I didn't have that; I know many of us have problems with pain, and strongly suggest that those who suffer get two or three of them, so we're never without one fully charged (and because they're not all the same). There's always gin, of course - but it's not really an answer at the end of the day (an end which we'll reach all the faster if we rely on it...)..
I think it’s just the way I have always worked Robert , though you do have to think more about the effect of the colours on each other. Hope I can add the photos this time .
It's coming along really well Paul, like your use of colour.
