I haven’t posted anything for ages so thought I’d share with you my latest efforts. Been on my hols recently, so I fancied painting these waves crashing on a pebble beach. I’m (trying) to paint looser than I normally do, so have picked a large canvas (32 x 24 inches). I’ve enjoyed tackling the sea this afternoon. A way to go yet, but here’s the progress so far.
Small progress made on the rocks, but my art room is an ice box so is difficult to paint comfortably!
Well despite the cold temperature you are doing a superb job of this Helen , the colours in the pebbles is superb.
It's looking great Helen.
it's always good to see a work going through its several stages, and I'm liking the look of this one.
Helen, this is looking great as Paul says the colours are superb
This is looking really good Helen , and I also like the colours achieved in the pebbles.  My art room (spare bedroom) is also freezing so I sympathise! I use heating there very sparingly.
I have a little portable oil radiator today, so am back on it… Switching between this painting and a dog commission I’ve to do. We don’t use the central heating (unless someone visits), and have survived this winter with a log burner in the living room. It’s been ok to be honest, and quite used to it now! ❄️❄️
I’ve fiddled with it enough now, so have put it on the gallery!
Good move - you don't want to fiddle with it forever, and it works very well.
Helen , I love it , my first impression as I looked at the finished painting was that I could hear the rattley clattery sounds of those pebbles underfoot . Stephen Weight
Thank you Robert and Stephen. It helped having another painting to do at the same time… in that I had to put it away and come back to it. I quite liked this canvas size (80cm tall), and may do more this size.
