Hang on Studio Wall
Message
Went to class yesterday and started a still life of white/ off white china. When I got home I wasn’t very happy with it and thought it might be one for the bin! So... I started to wipe the paint off, and then thought, hang on a minute, I actually quite like that effect! I had intended to take the original back to more white and grey, but ..... it’s gone now and I’m not sure what to do with this “rained on” version! Any advice welcome, but it could still be heading for a total wipe-off! Thanks Tessa
Well I give the thumbs up to the 'wiped off' version. Wiping off is something I regularly do to get different effects and I think it did the trick here. The only point I would make is that the background colour seems somewhat divorced from the subject matter. perhaps a more subtle background of lilacs and purples and you would have a great modern rendition. In my humble opinion that is.
Looking good but don't overdo the detail and make it too predictable - just a few limited darks but only my thoughts - others will think differently.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the original version. I like it, love it in fact.
