I know, there isn't anything drawn or painted and it is just a piece of paper.   But, it is a gorgeous colour and I want to make the most of it. Which colour route would you take? Try to make the most of the paper and use really deep burnt umbers, burnt siennas, maybe even dark purples and white highlights? Or, use complimentary colours such as a variety of blues? Or a combination of both? Would love to hear your thoughts.
When you say palette, you're referring to the possible choice of colours on this particular surface, rather than a more general question?  If so - this is a red-orange, which should work well with black and white, and/or with greens and blues, giving contrast to the green and warmth to the blues.
Thanks Robert. Yes, I was referring to colour choices.  I like the idea of black and white
I like the sound of dark purples and white highlights.
Complementaries for me.
It’s a sort of attractive terracotta colour on my screen, and I’d probably opt for a similar range of colours, up and down the scale with the inclusion of some strong highlights, picked out in white, selectively positioned and NOT dotted all over the place… creating a focal point! A touch of black could help here also. Complimentary colours could also work… depends on the subject matter!

Thank you everyone So much to think about. This is actually an off cut rather than a full size piece of paper from Two Rivers paper mill and as I have three more of them, there is scope for experiments.  I'm hoping then to upscale my favourite onto a larger size pastel paper. This is fun isn't it?
Yup!
