I was going to post this a few days back but got bogged down with other things.  Some of you know I love drawing and painting tree I love reading about the history of the British countryside and how it developed into what we see and know today. It’s a bit a obsession to the point of having done a history degree specialising in the history of the landscape. I’m obsessed with books and reading this come from having to struggle to learn due to dyslexia I just live a book to hold , and look at I was given a book voucher for Christmas and bought several books on is The lost Rainforest of Britain . Well in in seventh heaven a really good book about trees , this lead me to a online search looking at old stunted trees and what a great amount of photos etc there is out there . The black and white ones really show the structure of the trees without getting involved with colours etc . Next thing was to set up to a sketch to paint influenced by the many photos so many did not have the photographers name but I would like to acknowledge all of them because of the impact they had on me. . Mt basic sketch . And a bit of added colour.
You sound excited about it, inspiration is there.
Looks good. You do love your trees.
Thank you Marjorie. Whist I forgot to mention was that when I first started to paint I did mostly landscapes and used quite bright colours, red, orange, purples etc . I stopped using them as I was constantly told they did not look realistic and a couple of professional artist I know suggest I stopped using these colours. Just recently I have been influenced by the Chinese artists we have featured on the forum, particularly their use of colours and the looseness. I know this is a loose looking painting but one step at a time , I decided to step back and use the colours I’ve used before and paint in the colours I want too not feel I need too. I so hope this work out but whatever it will be fun and a good learning experience.  A bit more colour added .
Thanks Sylvia I was  typing when you posted your comment.
It's looking good Paul. I like the colours you are using.
Thanks Denise  I’m pleased with it so far and have someone liking the colours means a lot.
I like them too Paul it’s great not to be tied to rigid ideas  . It’s all about self expression!
Thanks Gillan for your kind comment especially today when it can’t have been easy to feel positive .
Nice effort Paul! I do like trees myself, I'm a big fan of Japanese Bonsai Tree art... I have one Bonsai tree at a front of the house, not any indoor though... I used to collect books when I was youth, within my collection was the general book of trees species. I could learn about species around my local area, learn of how to distinguish them, what they are, etc... I did forgot nearly everything, but some passion is still alive in my heart ♡ Great subject Paul, nice sketch, so the painting and colours are inspiring too! Looking forward to it ;)
Lovely tree painting Dixie. I do like complex tree shapes like that, always fascinating and appealing to look at.
Thank Art  and Tessa, I signed it yesterday just before going out something I do when it’s finished , but on returning I want to do just a bit more on the wall. I don’t think I will get it done today as I’m at last seeing the consultant about my hand . I’m hopefully he will look at my so called good hand as I had a accident yesterday a slipped flat on my back landing on my good hand . The workmen had let mud and water slip down the road and as I stepped out of a shop it was oops mate mind that. Will post it tomorrow on the gallery when I’m happy with it.
