The attached painting the the basic layout for a new painting I’m just starting. I normally use quite thick watercolour to build up the rusting effect, but I have decided to change my approach this time. What I want to achieve is thin washes so the colours merge and overlay a little. I decided to add the shadow areas first as this seems to give the outline drawing somebody and depth. Hopefully it will go to plan but as you know sometimes painting do their own thing.
Well this is the next stage, it’s surprising how it changes as soon as you add a bit of colour. Feel free to comment.
Interesting to see your method like this Dixie. It’s like looking over your shoulder. Looks good so far, as you say a little colour soon brings it to life. Looking forward to the next stage.
And moving on a little, doing this among other things so taking time.
Liking this one Paul!
Thank you Tessa and Anthony, it quite enjoyable doing as it different to how I would normally paint. And so we progress I’ll have to start thinking about the back ground soon.
Good progress so far Dixie.
Some background added but not to sure about it. One  benefit from taking a series’s of photos is playing it back in a slideshow ,it interesting to see the changes and development as if it’s animated.
Thanks Stan, be interesting to see a photoshot as you say.  This it it so far, now for the bit I’m not looking forwards too, adding too the gib to make it look square box section. I’ve not done it this way before so it’s definitely trials day error, ah well can only make a mess of it.
Might pass the MOT now Stan.
Excellent!
Thanks Tessa. Well this is about it, I will leave it for a day or so and then look at it again if in content then I will post it in the gallery. Don’t want to do any more as I will start to fiddle, made many a mistake doing that before.
