Im starting a mixed media beach scene for my bedroom, once the hubbys finished decorating, if thats ever it will go up. 😂. He fell off the ladders yesterday and broke his toe, the floorboard has rotted and we didnt notice as its been under laminate flooring for 10 years. Were getting new carpet so up it came and down he went 🤣🤣. I can laugh now but he did give me a fright yesterday. Any way back on subject, im planning on doing a few beachy feeling pics for my room, and i was thinking of possibly covering this with a little more detail, then using encaustic medium to which i would carve, add layers of colour and encase some seaglass and shells we have collectex over the years. Does anyone have any experiance on encaustic medium? Esp on canvas? Or should i save that for my next piece, using wood board for stability and do this as a full on acrylic?
Jen I think this looks a fun project to start. I know nothing about encaustic art. . If I understand your post correctly you want to embed found objects into the wax ? . I would think they might fall off when the wax hardens ! Maybe impasto paint with the objects stuck on. Then it all varnished when it is finished. I think you have some trial and error ahead of you. But the idea is lovely. Keep us all updated .
Like Sylvia, I can't be of much help on this one. However, I have seen this encaustic art and I do like it; the tactile feel and the 3D effect can both make for an interesting piece. Anything will stick to anything with the right stuff!, you just need to do some research and find that 'stuff'.
