Robert, I agree with Paul. I don’t have an iPhone, but would be quite lost now without my iPad (on my second one). Takes excellent photos which you can easily crop and upload to a site like POL in seconds, or attach to an email - and it has an extremely quick and easy screenshot function. It’s light and portable and is super quick to start up (unlike my laptop which is often temperamental and can take ages). I use it a lot to photograph my work as I go along - so much easier to see anything which may need changing when you’re looking at a smaller image, I often take dozens of photos before I’m happy with the final painting. You won’t regret getting one and will soon wonder how you managed without!

I would be lost without my iPad too, it’s a great tool and very versatile. I’ve dabbled a bit with doing digital art with it and I’m looking to investigate that further but could never part with my graphite pencils, it’s nice being able to do both. Love the pastel painting you’re doing of the dog on your easel.

I went on an art day some years ago which was about drawing / painting on an ipad. We had to purchase the photoshop app prior to the course (which, at that time was a one-off payment of about £5). It was an interesting session and I have used the app numerous times since then also.
However, after the loss of some bits of functionality (after 9 good years), and unable to update apps to the latest versions, I had to buy a new one. The photoshop app, (for the newer iPad) however, is now a monthly subscription.
I still use the old iPad for some things (including photoshop), and is also handy to have two images on screen to reference when I’m painting.
I agree with what everyone above has said about iPads. I wouldn’t be without it (both of them!)

All my work I used to do, did follow whether PC monitor displayed reference, or Samsung tablet, or even mobile phone little display...
The disadvantage I've found - was the size of digital display.
It was always smaller than actual drawing.
I did want it to be at same size, to help me compare the outlines, shapes, shadows etc., more correctly.
At this point I did treat myself, and have upgraded to 24inch smart TV.
Now when I zoom in or out, I'm matching the drawing size 1:1
That was it.

I have an ipad also, for about a year, procreate is a great painting app, the ipad is so touch sensitive, and i love working in the B pencil. After a few months of using procreate i realised I could create much more complex and colourful work with it than traditional acrylic, in much less time.
