So full of drama and intrigue Pog.

Sometimes I’m experiencing such unique feeling, that the artwork is changing on itself, without me having making it this way, sort of unexpected effect… It’s difficult to describe what I mean, but the impression I’m getting is - is it really me who’s painting this? That feeling leaving me with doubt, that if I t’s really me - the author 😉 This is what I’m getting at the moment… The closer to the final, the more impressed I am. I’m loving it to the bits (is it proper English saying?😉👍) Thank you Sylvia…
This is great to watch the progress on, Art. Very silver. Are you adding any other warming or cooling 'colours' as you progress?
Gerry Mellor on 10/12/2023 09:05:34
Thank you Gerry for keen words my friend. My limited palette for *silver alike colour is  -Titanium White -Ivory Black -Raw Umber -French Ultramarine  What you can see, it’s just a mix of the above… Then I wanted the background to be more full body rather than grey-ish.., and I have took a risk and have mixed Vermilion into 3 colours and randomly making colour mixes and applying strokes all over… This is how I ended up having this juicy background Gerry. Now that I've viewed this on computer screen and not just my phone, I can see and appreciate more the depth and subtleties of colour. Bravo, Art, nicely done.

Thank you Gerry for having a CLOSER look! That’s true what you’ve said.., the small screen doesn’t justify the whole effect, unless it’s viewed on the larger display… Further more, the photos I’m uploading aren’t perfect either, due to light and camera’s itself imperfections while judging the white balance … So it’s always favouriting some subtle tonal differences more than others. I’ve done few commissions, and recipient was always impressed while collecting the drawing, because it was the FIRST time he could see the artwork on his own eyes… Thanks Gerry. This is today’s update… I’ve just find that the RIBS are most challenging part so far… Not only they’re 3D form shape, having uneven surface, they have also the spinal column going behind… Well… Small drawing equals small area to paint - but it’s time consuming a lot 😉

I bet I did complain already having harsh time dealing with 3 dimensional curves of the ribs… Well, I’m just finding the hair not any less challenging 😅👍

The whole is covered with the paint, now’s time to get start detailed work to improve the 3D effect of carved figurine form even more…
Pog you must have some knowledge of anatomy yo have some this...
This is looking really good, Pog.
Dear Sylvia unfortunately I have not… I’m blindly following these shapes throughout, if the author artist of this jewel did something wrong while creating this item, the mistake will be blindly repeated by myself I’m afraid. On the other hand this painting isn’t about exact human body structure to me, but the meaning it does accents if you know I mean. By the way I’ve received this jewel few days ago, and it’s exactly highly detailed and carved as we can see on the photo reference, I’m very happy having it hanging down on my necklace 😉👍 Thank you Sylvia 😊 Thank you Carol for keen words and following the progress 😊 I can smell the final strokes already, I hope I can improve it further, to accent those 3D shapes even more… Thank you.
It's always interesting to watch work in progress, this one is going really well.  Thanks for sharing Pog.

Thank you Lewis for stepping by 😉👍 I’ve ratty (😉) feeling that the frequent updates are killing the engagement… Therefore It’s always very appreciate getting few words from you and other artists 👍 You’ve most probably missed my comment sent fewer days ago, where I have mentioned I’m practising character drawings on my iPad while learning animation on the app I have. I’ve drawn the rat lately and I was struggling how to draw the rat for animation… So I ended up with this simplistic sketch if you like to see it (😅); The rat animation… This morning I was looking at the “feeling ratty" sketch you’ve done, and I’m amazed how freely you’ve made the rat’s head being convincing that’s the rat itself, and yet so likeable! I’ve never been drawing caricature or any sort of characters myself, it’s simply my out of comfort zone, being highlighted now undoubtedly when I’m trying practice animation… I wish I could improve on this, but I fear It’s something that’ll be very hard to achieve in my hopeless case 😉

Hi Pog.  I did respond to your question.  You asked it when commenting on one of my pictures, I replied in the comments to that picture.  I sometime ask questions when commenting on other people's pictures, it means you have to revisit the picture later to see if you've had a reply.  Perhaps I should have replied in the forum somewhere. I like your 'rat animation', it's very good.  You obviously have the knack for it.  Keep going. I've made lots of animations, but don't do it now because I haven't the patience.  (But never say never.)  I started in the 1970's using super 8 film, and occasionally 16 mm films.  So...real old time, hands-on, technology.  Modern digital animation apps are much easier, and it's a doddle to add music and sound effects digitally...much more complicated with the old equipment.  I preferred drawn animation...immensely time consuming when you have a job and a family.  I switched to plasticine animation...quicker for me, but it required constant remodelling of the plasticine characters.  Much later I tried digital animation, but I'm talking over 30 years ago, so the apps I was using are old hat now. It was the timing that fascinated me.  Timing is everything in animation, as you'll know.  I worked at 24 frames per second,  which means making 24 drawings, each slightly different, to produce 1 SECOND of screen time.  I quickly learned that you could get decent animation by photographing each drawing TWICE, this reduced the drawings needed to 12 for each second of screen time.  Still a lot of work.  But you'll know all this.  I think digital animation runs at 30 frames per second...I've forgotten...but you'll know, having just made your rat clip. Here's a still for a digital film I made...the character is singing....breaking sound tracks down into frames so that you get lip sync is a long job.  But everything is a long job in animation, even for a 2 or 3 minute film. Ah..the still.  Here it is...he's supposed to be French and is singing La Vien Rose. I still have digital copies of some of these old clunkers, but I can't show them here unless I join Faceache or Youtube.  Don't want to do that. Crack on with the animation Pog, it's one of life's miracles.
